Picking Up

November 17, 2009

Well, it looks like things are going to be picking up around here once again. GWP had it’s meeting yesterday and several things were planned, more on that on the GWP page. I’ve also planned on a few things myself.

The first thing I’m planning on is to start planning out my novel. I may not put the figurative pen to paper yet, but I need to get some of my ideas straight. Some characters need fleshing out, and some characters’ very existence is up in the air. I also need to think up the style of storytelling I’ll be using.

The second thing I have planned is a little project for my youtube account. I have an account, but I really don’t use it often. I got to thinking the other day about the old silent films and how one would have to read the dialouge. In some that could mean spending a fair amount of time reading. I’m thinking about taking some of those silent films, that are in the public domain, and editing out the text and dubbing the dialouge into the films. In a way I’ll be breathing new life into these old films and updating them for the 21st century. I plan to start with Nosferatu and seeing how youtube reacts to the idea.

Well that all for now folks, I’ll be updating later about some of these decisions.

Bummer

November 11, 2009

The title says it all. I was just chatting with someone at GWP and pretty much the official statement for GWP’s first film is that it’s now canceled. GWP just isn’t big enough to handle a feature film at the moment, after all we’re really only two people with some friends who help on occasion.

Instead we’ve decided to focus our energies once again on short films and the like and build ourselves up from there. Currently short films happen to be GWP’s specialty, mainly because we can’t get larger projects together. One of our most successful projects, which was also our biggest in a sense, almost didn’t happen. That was Jehovah’s Spectators. It was stuck in developmental hell for so long I thought it would never get out. However, things like Mr. Unfortunate seems to go really well for us so expect more of that.

On another note, I’ll be registering for NYC Midnight’s short story challenge later this week. I’ve started practicing writing shorts recently and will be ready when the contest begins. My future could very well begin there.

Short Story Challenge

November 4, 2009

So it turns out that I can’t get away from writing. I’ve recently been considering writing my novel again despite no luck with jobs. I’ve been starting to think I should get to work on it sometime next week. Well, today in the e-mail came an announcement about a short story challenge. it’ll cost me about $34 to register, but I think it might be worth a shot.

My specialty is actually short stories so this would be right up my alley. The rules are basically saying that they’ll pick the genre and subject, and I’ve got to write a decent story in about a week to win round #1. Round #2 I’ll have 24 hours.

Here’s a link to the contest below if anyone’s interested.

PS: While looking at some old posts I realized that this contest is one I blogged about before. I had missed the first round last year and planned to keep my eyes on it this year. Things have come full circle.

Goodbye Novel

October 28, 2009

Well I haven’t posted in a while so I thought that I should give a little update. I’m still working at good old KMart, meaning that I have still to find a job in video. The two movies are still planned, although they may fall through.

One of my plans has already been pushed to the side. The novel I planned to write has been offically posponed until further notice. I decided that I should get into the video field and out of this house (and get a place of my own) before I try focusing on a novel.  That’s all for now.

It’s a movie times 2!

October 5, 2009

Well, after talking with several people I thought I should inform everyone that I will be working on two movies very soon. The first one, which I call first since it came up first, is for GWP. More on that movie on the GWP page. The second, is for a company a college friend is starting. I have very little info on this movie right now, but once I get some info on it I may make a page for it.

Now, the fun thing is both films are in the script writing process as I write this post. Which of course means that both films could possibly be going on at the same time. The second film is still up in the air, as I know little info at the moment. there’s going to be a meeting, which I will be attending, sometime in November for the film where various aspects of the film will be discussed. It may seem like I’m out of the loop a little, but my main contribution will be in post-production so it works out fine.

Update

September 12, 2009

Well, it’s been a while since I last updated. For those wondering why I haven’t updated recently, it’s mainly because I haven’t had anything to blog about. I’ve been thinking of making a new page about something, we’ll see. However I do have something to talk about on my GWP page, so take a look at it.

Movies and Novels

August 9, 2009

It’s been an interesting week, with several ups and downs. However, it seems as if things are starting to go the right way for me finally. As the title suggests, this post will be talking about a movie idea one of my friends have had, and a novel idea that I just came up with.

Before we get into the major two topics of today’s post, I would like to say that it seems my brain has finally gotten back into creative mode. After about a year of  virtual writer’s block of sorts, ideas are starting to form again. This is exciting because it is now August, and I plan to participate in NaNoWriMo this November.

So first I’ll talk about the movie. Right now there isn’t even  script yet for it, mainly because the idea is still getting off the ground. The general idea is firmly in someone’s mind, so the script should be coming about soon. My part in the project is the editor. Once the movie gets a title and some steam behind it I’ll make a page for it. Otherwise you can check up on its progress here: MyProducer page.

Now, my novel idea actually started forming in my head sometime last night. I was working as a cashier when I began thinking about it and realized that I could write a comedy about someone being a cashier. Several other points were thought up as the night continued, and now I think I have a decent idea to write about. I’m going to spend the next couple of weeks planning out the various characters, and then I’ll start writing it. Once again, once the project gets underway I’ll make a page about it.

That’s it for now, hopefully I should get those two new pages up soon.

Monday Update

August 3, 2009

Well I have had quite the week. I’ve been working at K-Mart for a while now, and I’m starting to get the hang of things there. The schedule has been crazy, but I’ve had consistant hours which is good.

Now, I’m still considering my dreams of being a Video Editor and a writer. I’ll be trying to work on NaNoWriMo again this November. However, I’m starting to think about being a comedian now. Working at K-Mart I’ve come up with some material, but I’ll stick with video and writing for now.

The Storm has not calmed

July 21, 2009

The storm my life seems to be passing through has yet to die down. Just when I think I can take a breath something comes out of left field. Today I had to cash in a certificate or I wouldn’t see the money for another year. With bills to pay and loans to pay off, I need as much money as I can get right now.

I also went in for my first day of training at Kmart yesterday. My second day is tomorrow. I’ll be working as a part-time cashier. My college diploma at work. I decided to take this job as a way to keep myself afloat in the economy for right now, I’ll continue looking for what I want to do, but at least this way I can start paying things off and have a little extra cash coming in while I look.

The car has yet to come back. It was sent into the shop a little while ago due to a sensor problem. Apparently it should be back by today, but it might get back tomorrow instead. I really want my car back, I don’t like the one they gave me to drive in the meantime. It’s more expensive than my car, but I don’t like the layout of the controls, and the gas petal is placed in an odd way.

We were supposed to get some filming done today, but that fell through yesterday. The short we were planning to film has been pushed back once again, but we don’t know when we’ll be able to do it. That was a real frustration yesterday as everyone tried to get schedules to match, but a last minute thing blew all the plans out of the water.

In speaking of frustrations, my father has been really frustrating today. Any amount of time I could have had to do something today my father told me to run errands. He’s finally taking a nap meaning I finally have time to relax myself. I’ve done about two days of work and the day has only just begun for me.

The good news is that between errands I cobbled up enough time to work on the myproducer.tv account. I made the account for myself, although I’ll probably be making one for GWP soon enough. I’m currently thinking if I should remain a hobbyist film maker on the site, or move up to a serious film maker. If GWP gets an account I’ll probably go for the serious film maker account.

Break

July 16, 2009

Well, today is the first break I’ve had in a while. There have been numerous things going on since my last post, all of which made me really busy for a week.

First off I landed a part time job a KMart. I still need to go in for orentiation, but everything else has been taken care of. I should be making some cash as well as paying some of my bills and my student loans. It’ll also get me out of my house for a change.

Secondly, I have finally got my own car, well sort of. I made the down payment and drove it off the lot, but there was something wrong with the engine so they needed to send it to the dealer to fix it. They gave me another car until my car is ready again. My actual car is pretty good. Gets great gas milage and has a huge trunk. There’s no fancy power locks or power windows, but that doesn’t really make a difference to me, just makes the car cheaper. It’s a 2008 KIA RIO and it runs really well.

Grim’s World Productions will also be shooting our first major short film next week. Everything has been prepared so everything will work out well.
