Picking up at last

March 12, 2011

Well, there’s a whole lot of good news coming down the pipe today. Let’s get started:

GWP’s short film, There’s A Zombie at My Door, has been submitted to the Terror Film Festival (TFF). That’s GWP’s first real step in going from internet videos to making films. whether or not it’s accepted it still marks progress for GWP. We plan to make something this summer as well to keep the ball rolling.

Also, finally one of the many projects that have been started and dropped is getting ready for production. This time it’s one of my college friends who came through with a script and now we’re trying to raise money for the film “Requiem”. I’ll be starting a page for this film so look forward to it!

In other news, I’ve currently put my own film project on hold until after Requiem is finished. I have most of the script done , with just a few more scenes to go. I’m hoping that now that Requiem has entered it’s fund-raising phase I can get time to complete the script, bringing me one step closer to getting it made.

Double or Nothing

September 27, 2010

Alright folks, time for another update. This week I’ll be talking about the GWP film, “There’s a Zombie at My Door”, as well as one of the films in progress that I am working on.

First up is “There’s a Zombie at My Door.” One of the things that have been taking some time has been the score. We’ve had someone outside of GWP working on the score, so I was a bit worried about how things would turn out. As of Yesterday we now officially have the score! I have yet to listen to it myself, but the person editing the film together has approved of the music himself.

Secondly, more news for the film. I recently got on a radio show called Transitions, a weekly internet radio talk show. While there I promoted “There’s a Zombie at My Door”. You can listen to the show and interview here.

Next on my list is the film I’ve been planning to write on my own. Well, it really is on my own. I contacted several people about it, but no one has responded to the first contact. One person seemed interested, but has yet to answer back about several questions. I’ve decided to get to work on this on my own since no one seems to want to go anywhere. Now, I could work with the people at GWP, but this is one project I want to do outside of GWP. GWP is mainly focused on low budget Comedy and Horror, and this film does not fit under this umbrella. Also, my main partner at GWP is timid when it comes to the idea of budgets and raising money, so he won’t be working on any budgeted films anytime soon.

I really broke off from everyone to write this script because I am tired of people being timid and unresponsive. I’ve been wanting to work on a film like this for a while, but the group of friends I made at college, a creative and ambitious lot in college, have become timid upon entering the real world. Recently many of them have become unresponsive to me as well. It seems they no longer have an interest in working on films, which leaves just me. Of course this doesn’t apply to every member of that group of friends I had. One of them has actually maintained that creativity and ambition from college. Sadly, that person isn’t a writer, more of an actress. However, she may be the one person in the group to have anything to do with this film after I’m done writing.

Monday afternoon update

September 20, 2010

Well, it’s Monday and it’s time for an update. In my last post I talked about three films, and I’m going to update you folks on them right now.

For the first film, There’s a Zombie at My Door, we’re still waiting on the score. we’re having trouble getting it from Person A to Person C via Person B. So the wait is still on. I’ll have a special post once we get the darned thing.

Okay film #2, or rather the film I’ve been thinking about working on myself. I’ve been researching a bit and found a couple of nifty things to help me in my quest to make a film. The first is the script writing software Celtx, a free script writing software that helps you keep everything organized, such as the script, character information, and even storyboards. I’ve also recently learned about crowd-funding sites like Indiegogo and Kickstarter. I plan to use these in making the film. I also have an idea of what the film is going to be, as well as a basic plot to the film. I’m currently waiting on someone I recently spoke to about writing a script to get back to me about some stuff then I’ll start on my script.

As for the third film. It’s still up in the air. I was about to declare the thing dead in the water, but I recently found out that the script writer did have their computer during that time. It may take a while for them to get back to the script, but the possibility is there.

Also, the GWP page has some news so take a peek over there.

The Tale of Two Films

September 13, 2010

Okay, it’s update time folks! Well, right now I’m waiting to hear about the score for our film, There’s a Zombie At My Door, which we should have in our possession very soon. It’s the last piece of the puzzle if you will, and for the final edit to go forward we need it. After we get it we should have our film completed inside of a week, with a trailer another trailer announcing our release date. What? You mean you didn’t see the first trailer? Well, luckily for you I’ll post a link to it right here.

Secondly, I’m planning to take the ball and run with it. I’m currently doing a little market research and planning another film. I’ll probably do this one on my own, as in outside Grim’s World Productions, but may end up bringing GWP into the mix anyway. There’s no script yet, I’ll probably start on it next week. For now I’m basically looking at the market and seeing what would work.

I should also probably mention that despite the title of this post, there’s actually three films right now, although the third film is up in the air. The third film is a remake/prequel to a student film that me and a bunch of friends worked on for a college class. The film was actually suggested by one of my friends from the original project. The original was really our first shot at filmmaking and the friend was thinking about taking what we’ve learned since then to improve upon the idea and possibly make something professional. The friend had even started on a script for the idea. However, it’s been a while since I’ve heard anything about it, and it’s been a while since the last update, so I don’t know where the film currently stands.

Well, that’s it for now. Hopefully we should have the music for “There’s A Zombie At My Door” soon.

Blogging again

September 8, 2010

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve last posted. Things have been happening recently, I’ll give a quick bit here about stuff, but go to the actual pages for more info.

First off the main project I’ve been working on is a short film, There’s a Zombie at my Door. As you can tell it’s a zombie film, but I think the way we went with it is pretty interesting. This is of course a GWP film so I hope this turns out well.

Those who have read some other posts will note my luck with writing the novel. Well, I have once again hit a wall with the novel. Mainly because I’ve been working on that film above, and once this is done I hope to get back to it.

Hopefully I’ll post again next week.

It’s a movie times 2!

October 5, 2009

Well, after talking with several people I thought I should inform everyone that I will be working on two movies very soon. The first one, which I call first since it came up first, is for GWP. More on that movie on the GWP page. The second, is for a company a college friend is starting. I have very little info on this movie right now, but once I get some info on it I may make a page for it.

Now, the fun thing is both films are in the script writing process as I write this post. Which of course means that both films could possibly be going on at the same time. The second film is still up in the air, as I know little info at the moment. there’s going to be a meeting, which I will be attending, sometime in November for the film where various aspects of the film will be discussed. It may seem like I’m out of the loop a little, but my main contribution will be in post-production so it works out fine.

Movies and Novels

August 9, 2009

It’s been an interesting week, with several ups and downs. However, it seems as if things are starting to go the right way for me finally. As the title suggests, this post will be talking about a movie idea one of my friends have had, and a novel idea that I just came up with.

Before we get into the major two topics of today’s post, I would like to say that it seems my brain has finally gotten back into creative mode. After about a year of  virtual writer’s block of sorts, ideas are starting to form again. This is exciting because it is now August, and I plan to participate in NaNoWriMo this November.

So first I’ll talk about the movie. Right now there isn’t even  script yet for it, mainly because the idea is still getting off the ground. The general idea is firmly in someone’s mind, so the script should be coming about soon. My part in the project is the editor. Once the movie gets a title and some steam behind it I’ll make a page for it. Otherwise you can check up on its progress here: MyProducer page.

Now, my novel idea actually started forming in my head sometime last night. I was working as a cashier when I began thinking about it and realized that I could write a comedy about someone being a cashier. Several other points were thought up as the night continued, and now I think I have a decent idea to write about. I’m going to spend the next couple of weeks planning out the various characters, and then I’ll start writing it. Once again, once the project gets underway I’ll make a page about it.

That’s it for now, hopefully I should get those two new pages up soon.

The Storm has not calmed

July 21, 2009

The storm my life seems to be passing through has yet to die down. Just when I think I can take a breath something comes out of left field. Today I had to cash in a certificate or I wouldn’t see the money for another year. With bills to pay and loans to pay off, I need as much money as I can get right now.

I also went in for my first day of training at Kmart yesterday. My second day is tomorrow. I’ll be working as a part-time cashier. My college diploma at work. I decided to take this job as a way to keep myself afloat in the economy for right now, I’ll continue looking for what I want to do, but at least this way I can start paying things off and have a little extra cash coming in while I look.

The car has yet to come back. It was sent into the shop a little while ago due to a sensor problem. Apparently it should be back by today, but it might get back tomorrow instead. I really want my car back, I don’t like the one they gave me to drive in the meantime. It’s more expensive than my car, but I don’t like the layout of the controls, and the gas petal is placed in an odd way.

We were supposed to get some filming done today, but that fell through yesterday. The short we were planning to film has been pushed back once again, but we don’t know when we’ll be able to do it. That was a real frustration yesterday as everyone tried to get schedules to match, but a last minute thing blew all the plans out of the water.

In speaking of frustrations, my father has been really frustrating today. Any amount of time I could have had to do something today my father told me to run errands. He’s finally taking a nap meaning I finally have time to relax myself. I’ve done about two days of work and the day has only just begun for me.

The good news is that between errands I cobbled up enough time to work on the account. I made the account for myself, although I’ll probably be making one for GWP soon enough. I’m currently thinking if I should remain a hobbyist film maker on the site, or move up to a serious film maker. If GWP gets an account I’ll probably go for the serious film maker account.

March 4, 2009

I’ve been incredibly busy as of late. The Examiner job means that an hour each day is spent on something Examiner related, such as getting the word out about myself. I’ve also been busy with filming for GW. The Chez show just had another episode and I’m going to be filming another episode of True Horror Review today as well. After that I need to find time to write another short story that’s been in my head for a while. Then finally I have history class. A really busy life right now.
